Children at Weddings?

The question of whether to have children at your wedding is often debated. Many couples are either strongly for, or against having children at their wedding.

If you really don’t want to have children there, don’t be persuaded by family and friends. Listen to their opinions, but try not to let them influence your ideas. The final decision should be with the Bride and Groom.

Many guests will be pleased to have a good excuse for a night away from the children. If you are divided as a couple, try and compromise and limit the children to a certain number or close family and friends only.

Either way, make sure it is very clear on the invitations whether children are invited or not.

If you do want to have children there, try to consider how they will be entertained during the day. Perhaps consider having party bags for the children, with maybe a colouring book, a toy or a disposable camera (children will often get a very different perspective of the day).

If you have a lot of children coming you may want to consider having a separate area, with an entertainer, a TV with computer games or a DVD playing. You may also want to consider hiring a nanny to look after them.

It may also be a good idea to decide on whether to have children or not, before you decide on your venue; that way when you are viewing places you know whether they are child friendly or not, and if you want a separate area for the children you can enquire about this possibility at the time.

If you have children at you wedding, make sure the speeches don’t go on too long and make sure that they are entertained.

Robert planned many things to throw her off and confuse her about his intentions to propose. On Friday, February 18, 2011 Robert drove from MD to Philly to surprise her for their anniversary. After packing her bag, Charity had a day full of pampering followed by dinner at one of their favorite restaurants. The following day the couple was supposed to go to see the play "Arabian Nights," but they never made it. Rob was called down to the concierge desk to handle a "billing issue" and a few minutes later Charity was asked to meet him down stairs. What follows is best captured by photos.

The performances of Natalie Portman and Vincent Cassel in Black Swan may have garnered the adulation of the film critics, but it's the spectacular visual feast of tulle and tutus that will have brides clamoring for ballerina-inspired wedding looks for the most important role of their lives.

This season, some of the most memorable bridal designs channel Swan Lake, with dresses featuring corset tops, big tulle skirts, and feather accents. HOW TO: Personalized your aisle runner

Okay, having a aisle runner is basically a neccesity to have a beautiul wedding. Traditional brides stay on the safe end and stick to a white aisle runner while the modern brides add a little style to theirs. To save money brides are now personalizing their own aisle runner without spending that extra $40-$50.
Step One: Creating your monogram (you can create your monogram on powerpoint, paint, publisher or photoshop) print out your colored monogram and save it on your flashdrive.
Step Two : Go to your local Kinkos and have them blow up your monogram black and white at 400%(standard 36' wide runner) if you runner is smaller or wider then you can adjust the percentage according to the size of your runner.estimated $5.00
Step three: Now pull out your aisle runner (estimated $15-$25) on flat surface and unroll it out to where you want you monogram to be (usually 5 feet) place your enlarged monogram under your aisle runner and use blue painter's tape to hold each corner of your monogram that is paralled to your aisle runner. You should be able to see your monogram through the aisle runner. note*make sure you placed cardoard under your monogram because paint will leaked through)
Step four: use a stencil to trace over your monogram and then carefully paint your monogram with your desired colors .Watch your monogram come to life! Before you remove the card board wait until it dry!

How to select a photographer. It's a task that a lot of couples struggle with. You want to remember your day just as it unfolded, but how much can you spend, what type of style and HOW do you ask the right questions to find the right photographer? Let me help.

First, you want to decide what kind of style you want. If you know someone that has been married recently, you might be able to look at their images and ask yourself, "Do I like these?" That can help narrow the search right there. If you love their photos, and the friend loved their photographer, the next thing is set up a time to met with that photographer. I encourage clients to meet with photographers to see if they like their personality, their products, price and approach to photographing a wedding. You don't have to meet in person, a simple phone call or video conference will do! You have to remember that the photographer (next to your wedding party and your fiance) is going to be with you 90-100% of the day. You want to make sure you like them and that you get along with them. If you don't get along in your initial meeting and you don't have any chemistry you may not get the photos you want. You want to have a photographer that can interact with you naturally and makes you smile naturally.

As for selecting the style of photography you want. There are three types of styles I like to put photography into. The first style is Traditional (very posed) a lot of formal photos, set shots (i.e boutonniere being pinned on, bride putting garter on, etc) Shots that are staged or set up tend to fall into the Traditional catagory.

Then there is the new modern style of photography called "photojournalism". It shows the wedding day unfolding in a story. There is very little interaction between the bride and groom and the photographer. True photojournalists won't direct you at all and won't have ANY posed shots. They observe the day as it happens recording moments without moving subjects for better light, or recreating moments.

The last style is Documentary/candid/mix. Now, some people will say documentary photography is photojournalism. In my book, documentary photography records the day with little interaction, but there are posed photos from the day. This is a style that a lot of my clients want to come in for. They want the pretty posed shots but they also don't want the entire day full of posing. They want a mix of styles, and clients want some interaction and direction from the photographer. In this style of photography, the photographer will move you to better light and will give some direction.

Then there is price. Photography prices run the gamet. You can pay $500.00 to upwards of $15,000 for photography. Is there really a difference? Yes and no.

First you have to look at the photographer and the experience they have. How long have they been shooting weddings? If they are new to the business, they may have a lower price point so they can start to build their portfolio. When you sit down to meet with a photographer, you should probably know how long they have been shooting weddings. Shooting weddings is very different than shooting say Nature or Sports Photography. Someone might take great nature photographs, but with the high level of stress and situations a wedding brings, will they be able to handle it? Are they able to react to the different problems that arise on a wedding day that are unforeseen. Wedding Photographers should really be able to react and work with any situation they are given. They should have back up equipment and insurance.

Once you have established the length of time you are comfortable with a photography being a wedding photography, you can then get to the heart of what should matter. The years of experience someone has, the training they have gone through, the type of equipment they work with, etc. All these things will be reflected in the price you pay. Another factor in price is how many hours you want to hire someone and how many photographers are they bringing. A big misconception in wedding photography is that you are hiring someone for 6-8 hours and that's all you are paying them for. In most cases photographers work 40-80 hours on ONE wedding. Then you have to factor in the product you are getting in your package. Are you just getting coverage? If you're on a tight budget, buying coverage alone will keep the cost down. Are you getting the disc of images? Are the images straight out of the camera or is each photo individually enhanced? (Called Finished Proofs). You also have to factor in the insurance they carry, the computers they have to buy and upkeep, the cameras, the hard drives, the office equipment, paying staff. All the things that bring their business to the level it is at, is paid for by a percentage of what you pay them. Someone just starting out is going to be on the lower end of the price scale than someone that's been in business for 20 years and has a staff of 10 people. People that work out of their homes may have lower prices than someone who owns a store front space. Buyer beware!In photography, sometimes you do get what you pay for. If something is so cheap it's too good to be true, you know the saying. On average if I were to get married today I would plan on paying between $2500-$7000. to get the type of photography I wanted. You have to keep in mind that you will have these photos forever and you want to make sure they are what you want, and that they are done right. Also- don't limit yourself to local photographers either! You can find someone that you love in California, that just may travel to your location.

Once you find a budget that you want to work with, the style, now you have to look at the photographers pictures. Are they well composed? Are they well exposed (meaning are the colors bright, are the faces well light, no harsh shadows) Do the colors look good to you? Is it the style you like? Do the colors look more blue or yellow? Are the blacks truly black or are they covered with a haze? Are the photos in focus and not fuzzy?

So questions to ask yourself while searching for a photographer:

Does their price fit your budget?
Do you like their style?
Do you like their personality?
Are their pictures in focus, good color, good exposure - etc?
How long have they been in business?
Do you get the disc of images straight out of camera or do you pay extra for finished proofs?
What products do you want in your package? (An Album, Disc of Images, Coverage time, )
Do you like the style of album?
Do you want a Matted Album or a modern flush mount album?

Now once you have hired your photographer don't give them a list you found on some website. If the photographer needs to be told to take a photo of your cake, or you walking down the aisle or a shot of your flowers, they aren't doing their job. You should only need to tell a photographer the shots that you HAVE to have that they might not take unless you tell them. Shooting the cake, flowers, couple photos are part of our job. If there is a photo you really love, be sure to remind your photographer you want it. They don't read minds. I do try to take a ring shot at every wedding, but it's not a standard shot. On the day of the wedding, I might not ever see the rings, and there for won't get the shot, but if you say "can you make sure to get a cool ring shot" I will.

Standard wedding shots for us are normally Dress Photos, Flower Photos, Cake Photos, Couple photos, Bridal Party, Family photos (we ask for a list so we don't miss any). Don't bog yourself down with a long list of formals. For each formal on your list, it can take 5 to 7 minutes to take. The biggest time waster at weddings is located people for formals. If you are proactive and organized formals should be a breeze. I can do all my formals (with a list of about 15 photos) in about 20 minutes. As long as everyone is there and ready to go.

Wow, what a blast I had to have enjoyed the night with Cartia and her family and friends. She came into her party adorably gorgeous. The carved ice sculpture and the guest sign in box was the talk of the night. Deigo from Hot Shot Photography did an amazing job. Dee from Island Bistro catered food to the event and it was absolutly delicious. We delivered the theme with denim label centerpiece frame and full body mannequins with jeans. Oh and the bartender did an awesome job she made her "special punch" go girl....

November18 My husband and I attended Event Connection Networking at the Double Tree Ocean Point Resort & Spa in Sunny Isles.We had a pleasure to meet talented vendors in the wedding industry.
From the samples of floral centerpieces, table, food presentation, entertianment and speed networking we had a blast. My husband and I even won a 2 night stay at the Double Tree Resort!!

A mom who takes control of their daughter's wedding day is nothing new. In fact, from the beginning, a mother's traditional role was to plan the wedding. But in our current wedding climate, 21st-century trends come into play and can turn what's supposed to be a beautiful union into a monster's ball.

CONTROLLING MOMS
Today, a mother's eagerness to have a piece of the wedding planning pie comes from a different place than it did when it was her sole responsibility. One type of mom is the controlling kind that is trying to plan the wedding she never had. Whether consciously or unconsciously, these moms start demanding that their daughter's wedding fit into a certain mold - one that was missing at their own wedding. Some of these moms try to re-create their wedding day vicariously through their daughter.

Here are many stories of what controlling mothers have done:

1.) Added her friends to our reception, some which we don't know. I'd like to point out that we have no room for any of our own friends.

2.) My mother got the bridesmaid dresses (i did choose which ones) and i was not allowed to see my sister/ any of my bridesmaids wearing their dresses. My mom said i didn't need to until the big day. My sister showed me anyway.

3.) My mother scrapped the wording of our invites and did it herself.

4.) My mother has booked the woman to do the cakes but we have never met her and she did it without asking or telling us.

5.) My Mother has apparently booked the Photographer and did not tell us, and I have no idea who he is, or what the photographs will be like....And my Fiance wanted his friend to do it.

EMOTIONAL MOMS
With a mother who has controlling tendencies, you'll be able to anticipate how she will approach the planning process. Bit it's the gentle, caring mom-turned-momzilla that can really take brides by surprise. Unassuming moms who then become obsessed with planning their daughter's wedding is a common theme. It's important to realize, however, that these sweet, loving moms really do have your best interest at heart and they are not coming from an evil place. While you've been thinking about your wedding since the day your fiance slipped that ring on your finger, your mom has been thinking about your wedding ever since she knew she was having a girl. Your mom has an emotional investment in her vision for the wedding.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
This is a defining moment in your mother/daughter relationship and you have to find a way to talk to your mom using the same people skills you have with a difficult co-worker, or, as ironic as it may sound, with a child. It's a great time to learn something new about people management and communication - not only to better the relationship with your mom, but also to make you more effective at work.

Above all, it's critical to be strong and protect your plans for the wedding that you want. It's all about being diplomatic and assertive and knowing how to best talk to your mom. With all the different feeling that a mother experiences during this pivotal point in her daughter's life, everybody is really emotionally tweaked. And you have to take it upon yourself to be the leader in negotiating how things are going to go.

So how do you find the fine line between being respectful and still efficient? How about sandwiching all the issues that are hard to chew on in between loving statements. For example, the first part of your discussion can be reflective of the fact that you do really love your mom, even if you are momentarily at odds. Then comes all the dirt, where you can raffle off the baggage you've been carrying around about your mom's intrusive behavior. Be aware, though, that using "i" and not "you" will be much more productive. You can describe what you are feeling by saying, "I'm experiencing this kind of feeling and it's becoming a problem for me and I need your help in resolving it," rather than, "Mother, you are driving me crazy." Once you've let it all out, close with another loving comment that encourages your mom to embrace a solution - one that will allow you to have the wedding of your dreams.

If a divorce and a step-mom are causing your mother to forget who should be the focus of your wedding day, keep in mind that her fear may be that she is being replaced by another mom. You can make the whole thing better by saying things that will directly and indirectly assure her that she is not going to lose you.

And if you really want to show your mom that you appreciate her desire to be involved in your wedding planning process, I encourage you to bring her along with you to Upgrade Events by Ingrid. Not only will she learn what it takes to plan a modern day wedding, she will have a good time and you will enjoy spending time bonding with her within the planning process. Afterall, she ultimately wants to share in the joy of planning your wedding with you.

However challenging your confrontation might be, don't lose sight of whose wedding day it is. Ultimately, it's your time to shine and you have the ability to create the environment you want to shine in

Favors are a fun way to SPICE up any event. Whether its a baby shower, birthday party, or a wedding. Favors & proper decorations give a professional, elegant, well thought out & planned appearance. Have you ever walked into a party or any event and it just seemed, oh i dull, blah? It looked like it took 2 seconds to put up the plain white table cloth, those raggedy cups that they used 2 parties ago, and thought you would not remember, and the oh so wonderful reusable rainbow colored “Happy Birthday” or “Congratulations” sign. We all know you went home and dogged out about it on how “horrible” looking it was. The proper decorations, and favors can really make or break you. The cool part is, that it doesn’t even have to be too much, or too expensive. Treat your guests to some elegant, & unique candle favors. They spent a lot of time picking out their outfits to come to your wedding. Try a nice personalized candle votive as your centerpiece at your reception tables. Or maybe give each guest a personalized favor jar filled will goodies like, jelly beans, or Jordan almonds. Try having fun with it too, by being nontraditional and putting Jolly Ranchers, or Lemonheads in the jars. Make it a memorable experience, and don’t forget to have fun!

Don't you love eating cake?

Especially, when the cakes is so fluffy, moist and super delicious.....ohhhhhh how i wish i can munch on some right now. I was fortunate enough to receive a specialty cake by Sweet Confections by Earlisa Hall. Sweet Confections is located in Athens, GA and she designs her cake at home. Her cake are original and super delicious, it's not wet or dry...its just perfect!!!!
